More and more smartphones are expected to be upgraded to Android 6.0 in the forthcoming months. It seems that the team now wants to reduce the time between the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and what would then be CyanogenMod 13, and so the team has made an early start. CyanogenMod 13, which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, is already in the works, as the team working on CyanogenMod has started updating the relevant code on their public Gerrit repository. This was also confirmed on a Reddit thread by burritofire It will naturally be a while until CyanogenMod 13 is ready for release. However, the good news is that work on it has started. Specifically, some code came in for Qualcomm framework variables for review on Tuesday. There are speculations that the devices that may get the first official builds of CM13, namely the Nexus 5, the Nexus Player, Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One M7, One Max and One M8, Motorola Moto X 2nd Gen, and all three generations of the Moto G, and LG G3 and G4. For people who do not intend to wait for the official updates or have phones that are no longer supported, third-party ROMs are a great alternative. For example, the Nexus 4 (whose software update support has been dropped by Google) is getting unofficial Android 6.0 Marshmallow support via a custom ROM. Companies like Cyanogen also works for those people who want to take advantage and enjoy the services of an alternative software experience. Recently, the custom ROM maker announced another smartphone that would be equipped with their twisted version of Android and would soon be made available in the Indian market. The phone will be called Yutopia and will be manufactured by Cyanogen’s partner in the country, YU. Depending on the model you wish to purchase, the handset is expected to arrive with a 5.2-inch display with 1080p or 2K panel (2,560 x 1,440 pixels). The handset will be powered by a Snapdragon 810 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. It would also come with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Further, Yutopia is expected to sport a 21MP rear camera along with an 8MP front-facing one. The product will be released with Cyanogen OS 12.1 out of the box and will most likely receive the update to Marshmallow at a later date.
